Just for fun - a sketchy day

I made a couple of layouts today which I'm not allowed to share yet, so I decided to make this one just for fun.

It's based on the Sunday Sketch over at Studio Calico, and I made it using the June 'Partly Sunny' kit
.
I also need to remind you that the latest Silhouette has gone up here at Scrappin' Silhouettes - you gotta be in it to win it!

I also intend to finally find time to play along with Sketchy Thursdays this week. But, don't be surprised if I don't! LOL too many sketches, too little time!

Wanna make some of these?

I think I am addicted to making these scrunchy fabric ribbons!

It's my week to provide The Studio's Wednesday Extra tutorial, and I decided to show you these. Aren't they cool? If you want to know how I ade them, click here!

I'd love to know if you make some of these - please link me up to your creations using them in the comments here :)

Have you heard?

I got pretty excited about this when I found it:

A UK based kit club! Yahoo! Maybe we might get a UK kit that's worth signing up to, I thought. It's something we seriously lack, over here in sunny England. There are a couple of them around, and a few shops that put kits together, but nothing that particularly floats my scrappy boat ;)

Whilst anxiously awaiting the reveal of their first kit, I couldn't resist applying for a position on their Design Team. I was SO excited to get an email from Sarah last week telling me I had made the team!! Yep, I'm a 'Tea Girl'! I can't wait to start creating with their kits and seeing what the other incredibly talented DT members come up with. I'm so incredibly honoured to have been given this opportunity :)

So come over and follow their blog so you don't miss out on the first reveal - trust me, it'll be worth the wait!

A little more Precocious Paper

What's going on? I'm posting twice a day now? Well, since I mentioned them in my last post, I felt inspired to make something for my home using one of Tessa's flowers!

A while ago I went to a charity auction and picked up a whole bag of vintage frames for about £3. Since then, my Mum has been picking up vintage frames for me every time she sees them. I have filled and decorated several of them, and still have a ton left. I will have to start doing them for other people soon as I am running out of places to display them!

Anyway, I digress. I took one of the aforementioned frames, a deep box frame, and backed it with some pretty embossed paper. The flower speaks for itself, so I simply added a couple of fabric leaves and an appropriate word on some Jenni Bowlin banner stickers. I drew in the string and bows, and decided it needed a little something to bring it to life. Enter the big book of vintage postage stamps I picked up at some other sale. I glued them all the way round the outside to make a border and that was it. Easy peasy!

This will match my living room, and sit next to the growing arrangement of vintage inspired bits and pieces. Plus, each time I see it, it will remind me of Tessa! OK, that makes me sound like I'm Tessa's stalker. I'm not. We're friends. Really truly!

Studio Sunday!

There's lots of yummy inspiration for you today over at The Studio with the reveal of today's challenge! Come over and see what it is :) This is the final July challenge, which means it's your last chance to win the Cosmo Cricket 'Nutmeg' Papercrafting Collection!

Here's my creation:

The picture is of my great aunt, holidaying in Criness (no, I don't know where that is either lol) back in the 1940s. The gorgeous flowers are from Precocious Paper. I know I keep using Tessa's products and raving about them, but they're so delicious! And, I swear, I'm not earning commission!

I spritzed a bit of mist on and also dipped a brush in and painted it on beneath my photo and embellishments. The rest of it just fell into place afterwards, and I wanted to keep it fairly simple to show off the old photo and those yummy flowers :)

Next week at The Studio you might be lucky enough to spot creations from some of our new DT members - you'll have to wait and see!

Silhouette fun!

Today my first project for Scrappin' Silhouettes has gone live! I enjoyed this sketch as I love me a good grid design :)

Here's my take (Sorry - perpetual rain is NOT good for photos!):

Come on over to see the work from the other DT ladies and check out the prize up for grabs this month!

Want to win this?

My friend and all round scrappy-genius, Lisa, is giving it away on her blog! Get on over there, quick! You have until Monday to enter. On second thoughts, don't all rush over there, 'cos then I won't have as much chance to win ;)

I also wanted to share this layout I made for a really cool challenge on Colorful Creations. It's a site I joined a while back and they have some really great challenges. The challenge here, was to send out 2 UGLY papers to someone in the group, and in return you will receive someone else's uglies. Then, obviously, you had to make a page with those. Here are the papers I was sent:

And here's what I made with them:

Not too bad, hey? I did have a headache by the time I was done, though!

A creative morning

My Studio Calico kit + add on arrived this morning. I wasn't too excited about it this month, as the contents are very 'travel' themed, and I haven't been on holiday in AGES! What on earth was I going to create with it. It turns out that these 2 layouts were sitting in my mind waiting to be unleashed as it had barely been on my table for 5 minutes before I was cutting into it!

That's why I love kits! You never know where they're going to take you :)

Snip snip

I thought I'd share my layout for today's Studio challenge. I love all the creations from the DT for this one - it's surprising how much creativity emerges when you are limited in the supplies you can use. The challenge is:

Make a layout using only cardstock, patterned paper and alphabet stickers

I have two words for you: hand cutting. I used my all time fave American Crafts 'Letterbox' papers as they are perfect for cutting out lots of things to embellish your pages. I just grabbed a few sheets, snipped out some designs and then decided what I was going to do with them afterwards. I also used some scraps to make some paper rolls, which is a technique I've been wanting to try out forever, and have never got around to.

The key to layering all these bits was 3d foam pads, and more 3d foam pads, especially to layer the journaling spots over the paper rolls - the pads are doubled up under there! You can see how much dimension there is in the photo above. I'm not even thinking about how it's going to fit in my album! The final touch was the thickers, and I used some of the punctuation to accent my flowers, too.

Drop by and play along for the chance to win a Cosmo Cricket paper collection!

You might have also spotted that we've announced the eight finalists for our DT contests. They are eight VERY talented ladies, and I'm sorry that only three of them can win a spot on the DT. It's going to be a lot of fun next Friday when we reveal the girls' challenge projects and the votes open!

Studio Sunday, plus more!

We have a delicious colour combo challenge for you today at The Studio! Check it out and play along to win a papercrafting pack from our July/August sponsor, Cosmo Cricket!

Here's the page I made (in a very hurried last minute fashion at 6am this morning lol) - I actually love how it turned out. Maybe the early hours are my undiscovered creative peak? I sincerely hope not!

I have some more exciting news to share with you today, too! I've been chosen for the Scrappin' Silhouettes Design Team!

Go and have a look around! Jennipher, the owner, is just starting out but already she has some lovely sketches posted and a prize for the latest one. The DT will start their work from 15th July, so be sure to stop by then to see what they create for the new Silhouette! Here's a peek at the current sketch:

And finally, happy 4th of July to my American friends! Enjoy your festivities. For me it's a lazy Sunday and maybe a bit more scrapping.

There are no words

Can you believe that this happened to me today whilst my phone was simply laying on my desk? I didn't even touch it. I think Apple have some explaining to do! Thank goodness I wasn't taking a call at the time.

I know it's an inanimate object, but I'm so mourning my little lifeline. R.I.P., buddy.
